Holidays/Vacations

Holidays and vacations are indicated by the dates marked on our school calendar. Calendars are available at the beginning of the school year. Parents will be notified of any changes dates.

Birthdays

Celebrating your child’s birthday is optional. Birthdays are usually celebrated with some special recognition of the birthday child and a special birthday snack provided by the parents. We prefer a nutritious snack.

Children with summer birthdays or whose birthdays occur during vacations or on weekends will celebrate their birthdays on a day as close to their birthday that can be arranged.

Behavior

A busy child is a happy child. We keep children busy and normally have effortless days. Off task behavior is redirected. Repositioning children is used for a less distracted work time. Children are given words to use to empower themselves to handle small upsets. Teachers expect all children to listen and follow instructions at all times. Continued success in school hinges on the ability to be polite, to listen and keep hands to oneself. We actively teach all of those classroom skills each day. New children do have a time to adjust to see if this is a good fit between child and environment. If we need help from parents we can work as a team to construct a behavioral modification plan. If a child is not a fit we part amicably understandings that Montessori Circle of Friends cannot possibly fulfill the needs of the child. We do not condone or practice Corporal Punishment as a method of discipline.
